Burnout Therapy

FOR INDIVIDUALS IN PENNSYLVANIA, NEW YORK, & NEW JERSEY

Do you feel emotionally and physically exhausted and chronically stressed?

Are you feeling completely depleted and overworked but continuing to take on more? The pressure you’ve felt in the past has helped light a fire under you to accomplish tasks, but these days, you find that stress debilitating. You’re working long hours to meet high expectations and your to-do list continues to grow, but there’s never any time to replenish your energy.

Perhaps you’ve taken on so much responsibility, it appears that the only way to see things through is to keep working at an exhausting rate. This can lead to struggles with the “Sunday Scaries” or feeling disconnected and detached.

With so many commitments, you’re barely able to keep up. You keep telling yourself “just deal with it” or “once I finish this, I'll feel better” but relief never comes. Even when you try to take a 3-day weekend, you’re still feeling spent when you return to work.

So much of your identity is wrapped up in your work and the pressure to be productive. You have no bandwidth for time with family and friends and can’t remember the last time you enjoyed the things you used to like. You’re deep in the throes of burnout and can’t figure out how to claw your way out.

What exactly is burnout?

Burnout is the result of excessive and chronic emotional, physical, and mental stress. It happens when you experience mental fatigue, feel overwhelmed, and are unable to meet the demands being asked of you. As the stress mounts, you’re left feeling helpless, unmotivated, and cynical.

Burnout can have a negative impact on all aspects of life, including your home, job, and social life. Burnout can affect your immune system over time, making you more susceptible to health issues and other ailments.

Some of the factors that can increase the risk of burnout include: extended working hours, unrealistic goals, pressure to perform well despite limited resources, chaotic & high-stress work environment, overly demanding expectations, taking on too many responsibilities, and perfectionistic thinking patterns.

How do I know if I’m experiencing burnout?

Burnout develops gradually. At first, the symptoms and signs are mild, but they worsen over time. Here are the most common symptoms of burnout:

    • disrupted sleep

    • change in appetite

    • chronic fatigue

    • frequent headaches

    • decreased immunity to illnesses

    • low self-esteem & self-doubt

    • low motivation

    • feeling alone

    • decreased satisfaction

    • cynical perspective

    • isolating yourself from others

    • procrastinating

    • difficulty managing anger and frustration

You can break the cycle of burnout, and you don’t have to do it alone.
